Durban

The city has a varied and rich history which makes for its unique multicultural character today. Durban is the birthplace of John Dube, first president of the African National Congress, and was home for several years to Mahatma Gandhi, originator of the philosophy of satyagraha (passive resistance). Durban is home to the largest population of Indians outside of India.
