Dr Nigel Gibson [ Honorary Professors and Research Fellows] Print

Biographical sketch: Nigel C. Gibson is the author of the recently published Fanonian Practices in South Africa (UKZN and Palgrave Macmillan) and Fanon: the postcolonial imagination. He is the editor of 6 books including Living Fanon: Interdisciplinary Perspectives (to be published in July 2011), Challenging Hegemony: Social Movements and the Quest for a New Humanism in Post-Apartheid South Africa and Rethinking Fanon. He is
the co-editor of Biko Lives: Contesting the Legacies of Steve Biko (with Andile Mngxitama and Amanda Alexander) Palgrave, 2008), Contested Terrains and Constructed Categories: Contemporary Africa in Focus (with George Bond);  Adorno: A Critical Reader (with Andrew Rubin). He is the editor of the Journal of Asian and African Studies.
      His book 'Fanon: The Postcolonial Imagination', along with his overall body of work Fanon Studies, is the basis of his being a winner of the Caribbean Philosophical Association's Frantz Fanon Prize for 2009.
